If you missed online registration don't worry. Just show up early Saturday morning with exact cash or check and we will get you out there. There will be food and beverages for racers during and post race. If you are bringing the family please make sure they have what they need. Anything extra we have can certainly be spread around once racers have finished. We look forward to another great Dirty Dawg!

Mountain Escape

We have a good weekend ahead of us. The weather is suppose to be in the mid 80's in Blacksburg on Saturday. We can hope for low 80's and possible 70's up in the mountains. That would be a nice escape from the warm week we have all endured.

We rode the course one final time before we mark it and it measures out to 5.7 miles with 814 feet of elevation gain/loss.

Final Prep

The course is now clear and ready to race. It never made it out of the 60's yesterday. Hopefully we will be that lucky next weekend. A big thanks to Graham Snyder and Christian Probst for all their help. There is a slight change in the route. We will no longer go up to Bear Cliffs. At the top of the B. C Connector we will turn left and take the Turnpike Trail back to the finish. This will keep the course much more tame (still plenty of rocks for those who love that type of riding) but enough flow for those of you who don't. I will have it marked early on Friday July 22nd if you want to show up early and pre-ride.
Remember, if you plan to camp please bring everything you need. There is no running water. We will provide food and beverages post race. I highly recommend the breakfast buffet at the Mountain Lake Hotel the morning after the race. It is just a short bike/walk from the camping.
We have many great prizes from East Coasters and The Hawley Co.

Less than two weeks

We are getting close to go time. This week we will be spending several days clearing trail and making sure the course is riding nicely. Graham will be spending most of tomorrow trimming the ferns so you can still see the trail. I will get pics of the course posted this weekend so you know what to expect.

The course has been posted under course info. We will begin tweaking the trails to have them race ready. The course has a little bit of everything. We hope you like it.

Trail work in Blacksburg at the Old Farm/Gateway Trail. Anyone who attends this trail day will receive $10.00 of registration. Come by and support your local trails.

We will also have a few trail work days at Mountain Lake over the next month.

Single Speed Category Added

After much deliberation, a single speed category will be present this year. We road the course this morning and it is clear that this will make for a great SS adventure. The trails are shaping up nicely and the ferns are already knee high. I will have the course posted in the next week. Let me know if you have questions!

Spring in the Mountains

Dirty Dawg is a little over two months away. Spring has finally arrived at the "top of the world" and trail preparations have begun. This years course will showcase trails that were not used last year. Easier? Yes. Less climbing? Yes. But there will still be some rocks. I will have the course description posted soon.

If you plan to pre-ride, remember to get a trail pass at the parking area. We will have trail work days leading up to the event to ensure a perfect course. I invite everyone to come out and check out one of the best kept secrets in southwest VA mountain biking.

It is that time of year again when we all start planning out our race season. So I welcome everyone to come join us at Mountain Lake this July for another great race. We are in the planning stages for the course and I can promise it will be less technical. If you have questions please let me know. Once the snow melts up high we will start trail work and primping the trails for summer.

A crew spent the day pre riding the course and it is riding sweet! The ferns have grown two feet in just two weeks and the new trail is coming together. We will have the trails riding perfect come July 24th.

Sunday May 23rd we will be hosting a trail work day. We will meet in the morning, do some work, eat lunch and then go for a ride. Contact East Coasters Blacksburg for details. 540.951.2369.
